"Pray Like Elijah Did"

I have shared in the past one of the most powerful and prominent prayer passages in Scripture, James 5:13-16. It is the challenge of asking the Church leaders to pray over the sick, and when the righteous pray God hears their prayers. Certainly this passage is appropriate for you as Prayer Partners. Every week members of our Oasis Family ask us to pray for them, and we list them on the Prayer Digest and ask you to pray over them. This is a beautiful picture of James 5.
But in the next passage below those verses are just as important.
James 5:17-18 Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Now I am not asking you to pray it does not rain on our Open house this week for our Love Cities, Love Pastors gatherings. I was tempted though. But since the situation in Elijah's time was so much direr with all he and the people were facing, I would not equate a little inconvenience to that time.
BUTTTTTTTTTTTTT...... The principle is the same. Elijah is just like us. He prayed earnestly, and he prayed faithfully and did not give up. As we think of those who are sick among us and need our prayers I want to thank you for praying faithfully and earnestly for them. I know each of them and their family appreciates it so much. I just got BIG thanks today from someone who had requested prayer. God answered and they wanted to thank all those who prayed.
So, let’s 'Pray like Elijah Did' and see what God does.
God bless you.
